Permanent Rinks - The Most Hassle Free Set Up For a Seasonal Ice Rink

A permanent ice rink is the most hassle free set up for a seasonal ice rink. It is the king of all set-ups. All of the piping is embedded into concrete and the boards are permanently attached to the pad. This type of set up consists of a system where all aspects of the rink are installed once and for all at the time of the initial installation. The ice rink mats are attached to a custom designed steel network that suspends the tubing1” under the concrete surface. The feed pipes are all hard connected and the header is sonic welded while the piping that leads to the chiller and the embedded mats are buried deep underground. All the skilled work is done professionally by us and your general contractor up front while your job is just to flip the on-switch every year when you are ready to make ice. That is, when the weather is consistently under 50Foutside, it is as simple as flipping on the chiller switch and then building up your ice. If you are someone who loves hockey and are committed to putting in a sport court, a permanent refrigerated ice rink with embedded piping maybe something you should explore. Please call us at 877-825-2334 to discuss your project.

        Benefits:

        1) Hassle free yearly set up

        2) Virtually no cost on yearly set up and teardown

        3) No storage required

        4) The cleanest set up. It looks nicer because there are no pipes or hoses visible

        5) Possible long term labor savings over portable

        6) Simplified ice building

        Negatives:

        1) 4-6 month lead time

        2) Highest up front cost (2-3 times cost of portable set up)

        3) Major construction project

        4) No resell value on piping (resell value is tied to your property)

        5) Fixed Size, cannot be expanded

        6) Fixed location

        7) Zoning and permits require

        Our system for embedding permanent rinks is a proven method that uses customized steel chairs, special metal gratings, and specially engineered tubes and pipes made of suitable materials to endure the widest range of temperatures. Our header is sonically welded and buried under the concrete as well. This is a system that takes into account a large temperature differential that can accommodate expansion and contraction to limit concrete cracks and prevents under ground leakage. We take no short cuts when it comes to embedding ice rink mats. Our process is not as simple a burying PEX tubing for radiant heat in concrete floor for a home. There are very important differentiating measures and we take them seriously. Cost Estimating Tools:

        Please keep in mind that this just a way to ballpark what an embedded system could cost. Each job needs to be custom quoted. This does not include

        Piping--$30.00 per square foot for installed engineered steel structure with tubing and included header

        Concrete--$12.00 per square foot for engineered concrete and excavating

        Chiller cost $35,000.00 for 10 nominal ton, 1900 square feet of chilling ambient under 50F

        Boards--Iron Sleek Tall Board Kit $70.00 per linear foot.

        Example:

        Consider 32 by 60 embedded

        Cost=Embedded piping + Chiller+Boards+Concrete

        Square footage 1,920 square feet

        Linear feet for boards 32+60+32+60=184 linear feet

        Cost=1920*$30.00(piping)+$35,000

        (chiller)+182*$70.00(boards)+$12*1920(concrete)=$125,540.00
